Martial Art Rolls and Falls
DROPPING FORWARD ROLL
This technique can be used to take up the impact of a fall / landing and transfer the motion into the roll.
Falling or jumping off of high locations
Once you hit the ground, bend knees while going into a forward roll
Applications:
Creating Distance from opponent
Close distance to Opponent
Falling from a higher position such as roof or tree
Lessen the impact of falling
Falling and need to keep going forward, body is in a more forward position
DROPPING REVERSE ROLL
Designed to take up the impact of the fall and transfer the motion into the roll.
Falling or jumping off of a higher position
Once you hit the ground, bend knees while going into a Reverse roll
Applications:
Creating Distance from opponent
Close distance to Opponent
Falling from a higher position such as roof or tree
Lessen the impact of falling
Falling and need to go backwards, body is in a leaning back position
