Round Side Kick
This is the typical side kick being taught in many systems of the martial arts. Although the attack is with the side of the foot, it comes in from more of a round kick type of attack and then extends in the end. Because of this, it may not have the power of the quadriceps and makes up for this with speed.

I designed this kick to solve two challenges:
- Kicking from a very close distance
- Maximize the power of back leg and applying it into a side attack
With the feet slightly wider than shoulders width apart, turn to face your opponent from the side.
Now lift the kicking heel UP as if to attempt to kick yourself in the buttox
Throw a side kick / heel out when it has reached the height of your desired target (such as the knee or ribs).
This kicks takes a little practice, but when you master it you will be able to throw a powerful side kick at a target even when the opponent is close enough to touch you. Remember to use the back of the leg to force this kick out with explosive power.
Applications:
Striking the targeted areas
Kicking opponents that are within your personal space / too close to kick
Great for kicking knees or targets moving toward you
Foot is sideways but using more of your heel
Good kick during a Side or lead leg fighting stance
