Martial Art Strikes and Kicks Form
This drill and freestyle form was created to give the students a fun training exercise that would develop almost every area of the Martial Science Basics - it includes the following:
- Stances
- Rolls
- Falls
- Strikes
- Kicks
- Grappling basics
- Self-defense Basics
- Weapon awareness
The form is by no way Static and I have changed it over the years to add variety to the programs or giving the student more attention in a specific area of knowledge. Unlike other martial arts that use forms in a linear and redundant format, the Martial Science uses all of its forms to help students to learn to develop their own control, and body movement.
This form can be performed with 2 or more members. We have done this form with a variety of group sizes and the videos on NinjaGym will demonstrate a few of these sessions.

It is not possible to understand the movements with the text and video alone. This is only a guide and a reminder of what movements are to take place and in what order.
Note: We use usually follow and Attack then Defend pattern. This means that one person attacks then the other defends and then the person defending, attacks and the rolls are reversed. When you watch videos of the students practicing the 1-40 drill, try to see if you can recognize some of these patterns. But keep in mind to change it up and create your own drill.
Here is the 1-40 Form broken down into its Foundational Steps (expand and experiment with the following to master your basic movements in the Martial Arts and Martial Science):
